JD graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2016, where he received his Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Exercise Science. In 2019, he earned his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from the University of Nebraska-Medical Center, where he graduated with high distinction. He went on to complete an Orthopedic Residency through the University of Wisconsin, where he received advanced training and direct mentorship from expert clinicians in order to further improve his manual therapy skills, clinical reasoning, and knowledge in orthopedics and sports rehabilitation. During his residency, he gained vital experience working with a variety of patients including Broadway performers, professional musicians, athletes, and pediatrics, in addition to general orthopedics.
JD enjoys working with individuals of all ages and orthopedic conditions, but has a special interest in working with athletes and active individuals. He uses both his personal and clinical experiences in athletics to relate to patients and provide optimal care that is tailored to each individuals’ needs. JD treats a wide variety of conditions including shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, ankle/foot, head/neck, low back, and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) dysfunction. JD is Board certified in orthopedics by the American Physical Therapy Association as an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS). He is also certified in Functional Dry Needling through KinetaCore and EIM to further treat his patients effectively. He has a passion for developing relationships and improving his patients’ quality of life by optimizing their movement and helping them return to activities that are meaningful to them.
Outside of work, JD enjoys spending time with his family and friends, especially his wife, Laura. He loves exercising and weightlifting, playing the drums, watching movies, and attending sporting events.
